Spare parts to carry...

Ok guys...

Since this is an all new platform to me, I'm looking for advice on what spares I should carry with me. I don't want to carry 'one of everything' but do like to have the items that fail often and leave you stranded when they do.

So far I'll be getting a spare CPS, what else??

I use my truck for cross country trips so I have a toolbox in the back I usually load up de[ending on then trip if im hauling a gooseneck, 5th wheel or just hunting etc.

-some extra fluids oil, coolant, trans etc with zipties and duct tape.-Duct tape let me make it home when a branch stuck in my 84 4runner lower rad hose and punctured it so it works for emergencies.

-I carry an extra jack in addition to the one under the back seat

-I don't carry much more in terms of spare parts to carry though. I know in colder areas some diesel 911 by diesel kleen and a spare fuel filter is common but I rarely see 0 or below for only a week etc.

It really depends but I wouldn't worry too much about spare parts. other then a CPS and some fluids I case a coolant hose, trans hose, oil leak etc.

I like to carry a few things as we go over road camping:

Also we never break down close to help...

* TOOLS - lots
* Spare air cleaner - mine are washable, so one in the intake and one to put in when other is dirty. Takes a day so so for it to air dry.
* Spare fuel filter
* Tire patch kit
* On board air compressor
* Fluids as mentioned above
* Fan Belt
* Duck type
* Silicon type - starchy self adhering stuff, really works better on radiator and oil hoses/lines Will not hold on HPOL
* Brake fluid - cracked a brake line once - Vise cripes pinched the broken line off and refilled master
* Did I mention TOOLS?
* Brake cleaner
* WD-40
* Hose clamps
* Fuses and major relays
* 6' 12ga wire
* small box of electrical connectors and widgets
* Depending on how far off road 5 to 10 gals of water over our drinking water

I always have lots of other stuff in the truck but it is for camping and just lives in the truck.

I've learned that you only need to walk to get cell service to get these to work. In my case, I was not too remote, 3 miles...

Great stuff guys. I do carry a lot of that stuff as itís similar for all vehicles. (Including the AAA card :-). Mostly interested in the powerstroke specific items that will leave me stranded, but are somewhat easy to fix on the spot.

Anyway, good stuff. Keep it coming.
