Can't go wrong for a thousand bucks if it's in decent shape (minus the tree incident lol) and runs good.

The story is, it's my dad's 'hand me down'. He bought mother a new vehicle. He was just going to give it to me. I decided I ought to offer him a few grand. He talked me down to $1k. lol .

I live in another community 400 miles north. I'm down here on work related engagements. Finally get to bring it home soon. I got two buds with cummins trucks. later 24valve versions, so they aren't too much above me about it.

I spent most of the day working on it. The driver side window won't roll down, I traced it down with my meter to a toasted motor. popped that sumbich out, we shall see who's got another online.

Did a oil change as it was due. pops was pretty good about keeping his fluids changed. the gearbox fluid is relatively fresh, the coolant was flushed and renewed about 15k miles ago (w/new thermostat).

Did a Napa 6637 intake mod while I was at it. then spent the remainder of the evening removing a lot of the gaudy trim. The weatherguard box I did not want, so that went away.. It really is a nice box if I should say so myself.. Removed the front bumper, it looks like I should be able to fix it with a press.

We'll see if I can't get all the trim heat-gunned away by the end of the evening.

Sounds like you are getting right to it. You sure you don't want that toolbox? If you don't NEED the bed space I might suggest keeping it, especially if it locks and seals fairly well. Mighty handy place to keep a few basic tools, tow rope, jumper cables, good jack, shovel etc etc. Considering where you live you likely pack the necessities on board? I do for sure. Wish I could afford some bed space for a tool box. I've got most of it stowed in the excab.
