If it is a up pipe it has everything to do with building boost.
It would only do it when I pull that really big hill over there out of Camp Verde on I-17 I thought this is what they were talking about running the Boost fooler yes it would be one of the up pipes so I guess that's the probably the issue I can't tell how they're constructed somewhere in the beginning of this thread is a picture maybe with the transmission removed and a view of the pipes. You can see some light amount of soot on one of them anyway are these a ball-and-socket design or what causes them to leak and how can it be fixed it seems to me if I'm hearing the turbo spool and it's full quickly it seems like there's not that much of the leak there if there is one but I don't know

I am thinking of putting the ts performance chip back in. I redid part of the charge pipes to intercooler so there's one leak solved but the other side may need attention.
here it is. That pic of the soot

i thought i could quote the old post to show the pictures, guess not. this site is terrible. i cannot post pics from my phone any more. we dont have internet at home. im on my pc with my phones wifi hotspotted to it.took 5 mins to upload the 2 pics!
so you see its leaking some on the passenger side bank. i really dont think this would be the only issue. i need to get a metal threaded schrader vlave someplace to make the pressure tester with the 3 inch pvc pipe cap.this thing was making more power and that leak has been there since i fisrt got the truck. i clearly heard a leak last week under heavy throttle. i never heard that leak noise again. i can easily hit 5psi just accelerating to 25mph, but thats about all i get maybe 8psi on moderate to mild hill

I found it.
1dieselman , you were right.
Damn boost gauge line had worn through entering the firewall. Lol.
I went and pulled the biggest hill I could find around here on Highway 169 and the truck just ripped right up the hill so I got kind of suspicious. I had already undone every pipe and coupler twice and remove the intercooler and check everything for a holes and signs of leaks. so short of pressurizing the system, I knew there was something somewhere.
Either I'm used to driving the truck now or I just think it's kind of a dog. It really doesn't feel like it has that much more power than my 97 Z71 GMC Sierra.
The GMC is 255hp 330ftlbs torque with Gibson headers, cat delete crossover pipe and magnaflow muffler. Just a 208k tired old gm 350 vortec motor lol

On a side note my angle finder that is used for measuring when you look for camber shows me 90 straight up and down on the wheels maybe a hair off but nothing like 10 degrees or 5 degrees..... yet looking at the wheels I see negative camber.
It does ride a lot better with the new ttb pivot bushing. I still have to do the other side. it's been hard to get stuff done in the driveway with this monsoon season we're having

I installed my silcone 2.5 to 3 coupler but that didn't solve anything there wasn't a leak there. I'm only hitting 7.5 pounds boost according to the auto meter gauge. I've seen it hit 25 easily before when I first got the truck.
I may have found a small hole worn through where the coupler coming off the turbo outlet pipe wore into the back of the AC pump or whatever is on driver's side top accessory . I checked everything else. I had heard a leak once but can't find it. It made a woosh Sound under higher boost.
I wonder if the front mount intercooler is bad. I'm not going to toss parts at it. I was just curious. So I can check the harness wiring.
A shop said my oil cooler is leaking. Is that the weird round deal under my driver's side manifold?
The cheapy adapters often do not support the J1850 PWM protocol the fords use. The OBDlink LX is a great adapter.

Does that work with my torque pro on my Android? Or is it a stand alone?

Thats what I use on my 97. I use Torque Pro for PIDs and data logging. I use the Car Gauge Pro App for pulling DTCs and running buzz & CCT tests. The only other reason your pcm would not talk is if it had am early PCM swapped in that had not been reflashed which is unlikely.

step up to a bigger injector, custom chip, and a little turbo work and your truck will no longer feel like a dog. There was a used set of baby swamps on ksl.com for $500, it is something you should consider. The cheap fix for that up pipe leak are chevy exhaust donuts. It's not a forever fix but it will get you by for awhile. It is a major pain to do and I would get a up pipe bolt kit before attempting. The better option is bellowed up pipes but they are not cheap.
