97 complete tranny failure.

Friend just called me, his auto tranny just dropped most of his tranny fluid pulling an aprox 8000 lb fifth wheel up a fairly good grade, Hwy 4 in Ca for the locals. Temp was at 260 f. Who builds the best tranny in the Northern Cali area ? Thanks in advance.

I can't help with who builds what in Cali but I can tell you with those temperatures he most likely blew the front seal out of it. I've seen it happen many times. Most of the time you can replace the seal and be good to go. He obviously also needs a much bigger trans cooler.

John Wood for sure. Not sure if he is in N. Cali, but he would be the closest. I just shipped a trans to a customer in N Cali and it was less money with shipping than John was, but, he is a very good builder and will take care of you.
