2012 slow into gear and hard shifting

I have a friend who just called me about his 2012 taking 5 seconds to go into gear in the morning and hard shifts 2-3 and 4-5. Do any of you guys know if the 2012 had any TSBs or known issues.

Start with fresh fluid Mercon LV.

There was something going around regarding solinoids in the transmission but I don't know which ones.

I had a HARD shift after cold soak that went away after a few minutes and a fluid flush seems to have cleared it up.

Thanks Kaya. You da man! That's the exact problem he's having. Any idea how involved the installation is, or how many hours it might take? The guy is a farmer who's had some bad luck lately. If its not too expensive, he may be able to afford having it fixed before he sells his calves at the stock sale in the fall.
He just bought this 2012 F250 6 months ago after a tree fell on his 2008 F450. He just put a transmission in that truck 4 months before it got squashed (really bad). He was so let down with the 2012 truck's transmission problem that he thought of just trading it in, but he can't afford to, so despite this being bad news, its actually good news.
Thanks again...

No worries bud. The transmission would need to be removed. Pump sits just behind torque convertor. Think it's like 8 bolts and the housing pulls out. If I had to guess, I'd say in the area of 9 hours or so labor.
Install, or have them install the gauge tho first to be sure it is actually bleeding off

This may sound stupid, but can this cause any other issues? Is it bad for the truck? Or is it just an annoyance?

Would it be covered under warranty?

I wondered the same thing. I'm sure Kaya will know. It's a tough transmission but the banging between gears can't be good for it.

I'm sure it probably could. I mean, you are essentially running components dry for brief periods

There is a 5yr/60k warranty on the trans.. is he over 5 yrs and/or 60k? I know he is close to the 5yr mark but some may still be within the coverage.
