DEF/Cat help

I took my truck to the dealer and they are telling me my DEF/Cat Converter is bad and need to be replaced . This is a 7000 cost but i have been told by others that ford always says this to get your money and it could be an easy sensor fix. Should i take it to another shop and have it investigated ? Truck has 103,000 miles and is a 2011 . I wouldnt think the cat would go bad this early
Forgot to mention the truck runs fine it just has a check engine light on and the code is a P0420

I'd get a second opinion.

I would also vouch for getting a second opinion and worse case probably plenty of used ones online/craigslist. Any performance issues/mods to the truck?

-99 F250, 4X4, 6.0 trans cooler, 08 mirrors, 05 grill, AIS Intake, lvl kit, JW Vbody, cncfab hpop lines, WW2.

04 Excursion Modified, 04 F350 Modified, 06 F350 Modified
