Hub bearing/ABS sensor

Has anyone ever had their ABS sensor actually break off and fall inside the bearing? Of course the bearing failed and I'm in the process of replacing it. What is the easiest way to get the hub off...I have been struggling to get it off.

That is an ugly hub. Well just to make sure the proper removal process is tire, caliper, caliper mount, rotor, lockers, interior snap ring, four bolts that hold the hub on, and finally prying the hub away. Two tricky parts are the snap ring and the prying the hub away. The snap ring is a pain in the butt any way you look at it so bravo if you got it off and if not you might need to trial and error different snap ring pliers until you get it. The second being prying the hub off is more or less a patience thing. For me I simply started with a thin flat head screw driver and hammer working the outside you should find a gap between the hub and carrier to work with. After you get a gap started you can either move to a thicker flat head or in my case a curved pry bar and simply work side to side. It should come out easily after you get the seal to break, but getting that first little bit can be slow going. As for your problem of the sensor falling in can't say I've had that happen.

What you said about the snap ring is so true. I bought 2 different sets of snap ring pliers and neither of them worked because the gap is so small they weren't long enough to reach. I ended up buying a set of snap ring pliers from Harbor Freight and got it out. I haven't been able to beat on the hub today to try and get it off, that's tomorrows project.

I'd start with a broom, followed up with some compressed air to get all that crap out of the way.

You don't want that falling into the hub area....

I ended up breaking 2 snap ring pliers, one was a snap on set. I ended up ordering gearwrench 82033 double x external snap ring pliers off amazon. They are heavy duty, thin and worked for me and they were only 34 dollars.

Also recommend getting a pick set because even with those pliers, it took about 45 minutes of me messing with it. Puting them back on was super easy, just taking them off sucked!
