Sloppy shifter adjustment??

[s]I know how to adjust the old trucks’ levers, but I haven’t had a chance to look at how to adjust the slack in the shift lever for the 6.7. I got a fair amount of play in mine and want to tighten it up. It appears that nobody on the inter webs has the same problem as me...so does anybody have any insight on tightening up the gear selector on these 6.7’s?[/s]

Wrote this on mobile...Apologize for the rambling paragraph.

I would like to know if anybody has taken up the slack in the column gear selector, or knows how to in a 11-present Super Duty, as mine has a fair amount of play in it over the years. Can't be any more clear than that lol...

And allegedly, I don't know the code for strike-though anymore.

Pop the covers off and have a look. See if any of the clamp hold down bolts have come loose, or the bushings are worn.
I'm assuming they're at least similar to the 07 column. Though i don't know for certain, tbh.
HLBeef likes this.

The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.

Thanks, kaya. I'll have to look this evening if I have time, haven't had a chance yet.

The shifter cable on the 6.7's is all grommets and clips, how much play would you say it has?

It has about a quarter of an inch to 3/8" of play when its set down into a notch for a gear. It used to be tight and firm, but I have a bad habit of resting my hand on the shifter and I attribute that to shifter wear in all my vehicles lol.

Remove the lower cover on the column and you’ll see where cable hooks up. Check play there, then go from there
