Yes. Disconnect ALL the emissions equipment plugs, load tune, start it up. As long as thereís no CEL or other warnings and everything runs good, you can go ahead and start removing the hardware.

upload the tune and if it takes then you remove dpf/egr and install aftermarket off highway equipment.

Curious what delete kits you are using, also what made you decide to do deletes? (I'm looking at picking up first diesel as well and am considering deletes but picking everyones brains for pros and cons)

Do you have to unplug everything before you load the tune? If I understand correctly the tune writes everything out. So is it really necessary to unplug before u load tune and check all good before begining the surgery?

No you do not need to unplug to load your tune. Just follow the instructions on loading it and make sure it takes the tune then remove all unnecessary equipment

The reason to unplug is in case something isnít 100% with the tune. If you donít unplug and for some reason you still have a sensor reading, when you uninstall all the hardware thatís when youíll figure it out. The you have to replace hardware or let the truck sit. Itís a small chance that it happens, but still a chance.

Not necessary, but cheap, easy insurance.
