I was talking with Jody at DP-Tuner and he said the x4 doesn’t even support custom tunes that do deletes, they are “blocked”. Below is the email he sent. I have since emailed SCT and have yet to hear back from them but will post my findings. Anyone else hear anything about this?

The parent company for sct who makes the software got slapped hard by the EPA. im betting in addition to the fine the paid they had to change their software. 99.9% sure this was part of the agreement for them being allowed to continue to make their flash tuners and other items etc.

There is nothing on the SCT website about this change being made to the SCT X4. Have you contacted their support and asked them?

99.9% it was in the agreement derive systems had with the EPA.

https://www.thedrive.com/news/23833/...defeat-devices

I agree I couldn't find anything on their website but it makes sense. EPA fines them 300k and says you can still make tuners IF.....

this is from like the 3rd or 4th paragraph. they have to retrofit existing tuners and not make anymore non compliant ones etc.

"According to a statement from the DOJ on the settlement, Derive will stop introducing new noncompliant tuners and will retrofit existing tuners to comply with the Clean Air Act. All new and existing tuners offered for sale must demonstrate that the use of the tuner will not increase vehicle emissions. Derive must limit access to emission control parameters in its tuning software and create a verification program for the custom tuning software, which includes training about vehicle functions, emission controls, and the Clean Air Act requirements. Derive must stop any marketing campaigns that would provide information on defeating emission controls and work with its distributors to prevent the packaged sale of its tuners with defeat devices."

Well if they keep this type of thing up they better hope Ford doesn't drop a supercharger into the Raptor.

BTW don't we recall what happened to H&S and their devices? They "bought" back a few devices didn't they?

Yes I contact them via email, but have yet to hear back from them. A buddy of mine has a mini max from his ‘11 (same year as mine) and i hope to do my delete with that. That seems to be the best option instead of going dump $1k on an ez lynk.

What do you mean “bought back”? Do you mean to say they bought the H&S devices and kept them delete compatible?

A few companies that got hammed by the EPA were forced to "buy back" allow consumers to take back their units to them for a full refund and or get a modified unit that didn't allow deletes. Edge and superchips already got the smackdown too. Edge got caught first, then superchips was caught with Harley motorcycles, then h&S, then derive the company who owns bullydog and sct.

edge and superchips is owned by powerteq so sometimes you have to google that name to find the epa dealings etc.
