Platinum Debadge

I'm interested in de-badging the 'Platinum' label on my truck.

Plan is to take a twist of dental floss to 'cut' the foam tape behind each of the 16 letters, then clean up with Goo-Gone.

Anyone done this? Think there's a better way?

I sorta did this on my old 97 F-350. I decided to turn it into an F-450. I scoured the web and found that most guys did it with the floss method. You just have to be prepared to use a LOT of floss because it breaks all the time. I don't remember how I got the goo off (probably just rolled it under my fingers).

Would think a little heat would help things along. Use a hairdryer maybe?

I just de-badged the 6.7 Powerstroke emblems on my truck, I used fishing line (dental floss broke too easy) and a heat gun on low setting. It was pretty easy, some plastic interior panel removal tools will help to pop them off once you’ve gotten behind them with the fishing line a little.
