Simple Audio System Upgrade

I'm looking for a simple audio system upgrade. I don't need all the fancy bells and whistles and that and don't want to spend a ton I like music but I'm not a sound nut. On my previous 2011 truck I swapped the head-unit with a cheap one off eBay and it made a huge difference. The interface and everything about the radio was glitchy but the sound it put out hit a lot harder and sounded a lot better without any speaker or amp upgrades.

I'm looking to get similar performance from my 2017. I would like to keep as much factory as possible but get some harder hitting sound, specifically from the sub I guess, but I don't want to go away from the factory headunit(Sony 8" screen) Any suggestions?

check out crutchfield. When you order a deck they give you the oem wire harness adapter and din adapter free plus when you get speakers the harnesses come with too. Their techs are usually VERY NICE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE to help choose the BEST system for your needs and budget.

Yeah, I had contacted them but they kept suggesting a full system and it just got to be too much. Maybe I'll try again with a different person there. As far as a head unit upgrade that is what I'm trying to avoid this go around.

I'm looking for something more like an in-line amplifier if that is even a thing.

I've read on a few sites where people just replaced the sub and were happy with that. There is an in line amp available which can be paired with a better sub as well. I'll see if i can find the site and post it if you haven't already found a solution.

This video is what I was talking about.

I know there's kits out there from kicker and jbl as well. Those are supposed to be plug n play full speaker replacement though. Stage 3motorsports was one of the vendors for that package.

Diymobileaudio has good info for people that replace the sub with alternate models. I don't have a specific link but came across it when googling 2018 f250 sub upgrade. Hope that helps you out.
