DPF Delete + Tuner Recommendations

My business partner and I tow a ton. His truck is an 09 F350 and he is in need of a DPF delete + tuner. Truck has 220,000kms on it and is not regening properly. Occasional white smoke and the dpf is right bunged up. Time to get that off of there and let the rig breath! The shop quoted him around 2500$ canadian to do the job. I am wondering what we can get it down to if we do it ourselves. Tons of tutorials and information available online. Shouldn't be a problem.

Now we are looking for what the pros recommend. I dont trust the word of many people in this world. When it comes to $ everyone has their own interests in mind. Here you can get an unbiased opinion on what is actually the best options based on experience. Forums are the way to go!

The mechanic is recommending a bullydog tuner with the DPF delete. Is the bullydog the best way to go? Would you just disconnect the EGR and away you go?

Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thanks Guys!

People have suggestions but i think the forum is tired of answering this question as it has been asked about every 1 outta 5 forum posts. I also think there is a sticky on one of the sub forums explaining everything under the sun about tuning.

But i will help you out. It all depends on what you want to spend. Some people do the dpf+r package which includes an ecu flash for 40+hp (as i recall)and clearing the dpf codes, as well as a dpf delete pipe. This is the cheapest way to go.

The middle ground would probably be an sct tuner with a diamond eye or flo pro downpipe back exhaust.

The high tier would be a h&s mini maxx or a spartan tuner coupled with a exhaust as mentioned above. With the mini maxx or spartan you can "shut off" the egrs, without removing them. It all depends what you want to spend and i think in this situation you get what you pay for. Hope this helps
