Steering issue

2 Years ago i bought the 2008 F250 6.4L Diesel from a local shop. It had been a 1 owner vehicle and that owner went crazy with upgrades. She put an 8" lift kit, 35X12.5x20 tires and wheels, traction bars, air bags and much more. Sadly the steering has always been sloppy. When sitting idle you can move the wheel about 15 degrees side to side before there is any noticeable wheel movement. And when driving down the road the steering is really sloppy and you feel like you are all over the road. It doesn't bother me but my wife refuses to drive it that way.

I've replaced a whining steering pump and rebuilt most of the front end with new ball joints, steering joints, pitman arm.. The only thing I haven't replaced is the steering unit it self.. Could this be the cause? Thoughts?

I'd rather have to fix it occasionally then have a car payment.

Couple of questions:

Drag link replaced?
Body mounts replaced?

When you replaced the fluid did you use the correct fluid? ***This truck uses Mercon V transmission fluid for the power steering and Mercon SP for the transmission ). I chased a similar problem and had a pop in front that drove me nuts. I replaced the steering box with a redhead and then finally discovered the drag link. Apparently they wear out faster than normal

***Dont take that as questioning your intelligence. Its an easy mistake to make***

Good luck
