2006 rear end issues

New to me 2006 F350. Have had the rear pinion seal replaced twice in 6 months at a local shop. Noticed was a bit louder then normal yesterday so figured change the fluid since I haven’t done it yet and discovered this surprise. Best I can guess is the pinion nut was loose at some point?? Checked the torque best I could and seems tight.

I am dealing with one right now that is making silver oil after a pinion seal replacement.
The shop that did the work does not seem to want to own the problem.
