Trouble with 2003 6.0 started shaking in yard this evening when i got home.

I have a 2003 super duty with the 6.0 liter diesel engine. When I got home from work this evening it started to shake like gas motor with a dead cylinder. I realized that I have not changed the fuel filter in about a year. Could this just be a fuel filter problem? The truck turns over like normal when starting it. Spins over fast and even. I change the oil every 5000 miles and use rotella synthetic. I also treat the motor every 6 months with hot shot secrets oil and fuel additive. I put a new air filter in it back in November just managed to miss changing the fuel filter.
When i realized she was running rough i took it down the road to see what kind of symptoms I have. Truck is weak. Engine tachs up really high if i step into the fuel pedal. Truck is not smoking at all.
I have owned the truck for about 5 years and have had a new turbo put on it. I had the egr delete done. I also had to have a new high pressure oil pump a couple years ago.
I bought an elm 327 and the dash command program for my Iphone. I could never get it to work because of issues with elm 327.

Could someone please recommend a way to hook my laptop to the truck and check my codes and monitor the truck? Does anyone have any ideas as to what my problem may be? Thanks in advance for any help.

Download forscan if your laptop has Bluetooth.

I use a veepak Bluetooth ob2 v1.15 it's blue and works fine

Once that's up and running report back with the codes.

The OBDLink MX will do both Bluetooth and wireless -- so, your laptop and iPhone

I like Torque Pro for a monitor, but that uses Android phone or tablet

General note:
For all those wanting a premium silicone sealer Kubota 70000-73764 is the best your gonna find. This is a hybrid gray silicone that uses solvent rather than acid to start the curing reaction, this makes it safe for aluminum and and any surface that involves coolant.

I went out and tried to get dash command app to connect to the elm 327 again and could not get this to work. While I was doing this i noticed that there was a humming noise that stayed on much longer than i have noticed in the past. I wonder if it is the priming pump and if it is having a hard time due to stopped up fuel filter. I ordered new fuel filters and will change them as soon as they come in. Thanks for the info I will look for the OBDlink mx.

Most likely an iPhone vs Bluetooth issue -- you paired the Bluetooth to the phone first, right -- then in the app, in settings, select the adapter.

The fuel pump is below the drivers door, get down there and listen or feel the pump to see if it is running, should run about 20 seconds at key on, then turn off

Primary fuel filter is in the pump housing, have you changed that one? Take the cap off the final filter(top one) and key on, should fill within 2-3 seconds.

Ok Gents. I got forscan connected to my truck and had no error codes. I did change the fuel filters and started the truck. I let it run for a couple minutes hoping it would get better. It did not. It finally quit and will not start now. Not really sure which way to go now.

What were the IPR, IPC, Sync, FICM output, FICM input at the time of death?

Would be good to know the fuel pressure, but you need a gauge for that.

At time of death and leading up to it would be fantastic

As you switch on the key start monitoring and record the log all the way up until it dies.

And post said log with all values indicated by Hydro.
