I know how you feel about a radiator change in a parking lot.

Freakin blows. Especially if you dont have the trans line quick disconnect tool with you

Not a fun job. Hardest part was finding water pump pulley. I was about 70 miles from the nearest town of any size. I had to change radiator, pulleys, water pump, radiator hose, and belt. It was a long couple of nights. Oh, I had to change fan blade also.

It took me longer to get the quick disconnect than anything. The radiator swap took 30 minutes once I had that

I rebuilt the top end about 50k ago and put in a new radiator, condenser, and all the hoses. So it wasn't to bad. I carry all the tools with me to work on the truck. I'm on the road year around and average about 60k a year. Have to be ready for anything.

I've had my 7.3 clutch on since last summer when my fan ate it's own guts. Works great, but idk what others say about not setting the cel. It set mine immidiately. Not that I care, but in this commi state that will make me fail emissions. It's not until august but I'd like to address it sooner than later.

j.mo, did you have any issues with smog? I am assuming you are in CA as well? I was about to order this adapter and new fan clutch with the rest of my BPD order but was worried it would throw a code. I spoke to John over at BPD and he informed me it is possible it will throw a code but he was not sure what years/model it would do so. I have an 05 Excursion that is about to be bulletproofed with all the BPD components and I would love this fan upgrade.

Anyone in CA with this upgrade care to chime in? Thanks in advance.

For their air to oil cooling kits, I think the best is the HD option with the cold weather bypass (what I have) and it is overkill for me. I choose the HD option because I didn't ever have to worry about my oil temp in traffic when it's 100F+ out. The downside I have now is that it take my oil a lot longer to heat up when it's cold out.

The Fan clutch will benefit a 100% stock truck because it works off temperature and not some overly complicated computer program.

EDIT: and the clutch is on my long to-do list.

The EGR does to your engine what smoking does to your lungs.

Remember you can always improve on a design until the EPA gets involved.
