Xotic Studs/Fel-pro Gasket Combo

Hey guys! I dont know if anyone has ever given any first hand experience here about either of these products but I have some for your viewing pleasure.
Dont do it...
just dont.

Despite having amazing quality o-ringed heads from John @ southeast cylinder head in Orlando (with brass valve seats/guides no less! his tech articles on his site on the subject of 6.0 heads sold me and i am convinced he is a 6.0 head genius) the fel pro gaskets/Xotic studs gave way after a measly 4k miles of heavy peddlin the basic Performance tune that comes on the SCT x4 (hits 30 psi). To their credit they made it about 8k with the factory tune prior but they absolutely couldn't handle the performance tune.

Lesson learned. ARP/Ford gaskets guys i went against the grain i kept reading here to my own detriment. gonna be redoing it right one of these weekends coming up.

I doubt it was the Felpro gaskets. I would suspect the studs, and giving you (seemingly) lifted your heads, something to do with the install.

I seriously doubt anyone here told you to use Xotic studs. Mine's been running ARPs and Felpro gaskets with KDD o-ringed heads for 75k+ miles on the SPD race tune.

How well was the deck prepped? Was it checked for flatness?

I'd suspect poor quality studs, installation error or a bad deck over the Fel-Pro gaskets.

Gotta love that brand name – Xotic! A couple of synonyms for the word exotic are “strange” and “unusual” – Neither of which would sound very good as a vital engine part brand name...lol.

Never heard of Xotic and that's probably the reason there is a problem. As much as this stuff costs and as difficult as it is to tear into these engines I'm not sure why someone would use unknown parts.

Nah i meant everyone I read here said use Arp and I took the risk to save $300. now paying $1200 Canadian pesos more for new parts . Heads were brand new the deck surface i went at to a shine with a knife stone like i saw 6.0 doctor do on youtube. Was that a bad decision as well?

Do the fel-pros have a good reputation? All I've read here is go OEM gaskets which is what I'm doing this time.

From what I've read about them, they are the way to go if you don't have ringed heads
