SCT X4 UPDATED......UGGHHHH

So, rebuilding the truck again and was trying to get truck back to stock setting. Tuner kept erroring out. Wouldn't start at that point. Call to SCT said to update it. Did that before I knew of the EPA update.

So, now I see on a lot of tuner pages "all emissions related equipment must be present to properly run our calibrations". What does that mean to us with deleted, turbo back trucks needing new tunes? Will they not run 100% as built/tuned??? Or are tuners taking what we put on our order forms, clearly noting that it has been deleted, and working tuner magic as usual?

Nobody has figured a way out to download previous firmware updates? Somebody has to have them saved....wish I had...

Unfortunately, you're out of luck, my friend. With updating your device, there's no way to go back to your original firmware, and the canned tunes you used to run will not work with a delete (well, they will work, but you aren't going to be able to turn off emissions equipment - thus codes and a potentially a CEL). You're into needing a custom tune now to disable the EGR and keep the codes/CEL from showing (it's cheaper than a new tuner...).

Sorry, should have clarified I already have custom tunes that were done before so the tuners turned off the error codes. But now, tuners are saying they don’t have the codes for EGR any longer so are they still
Turning the check engine light off?

Your canned tunes (pre loaded that came on the SCT device) won't be able to disable the EGR anymore, so if you run them, you will get codes and a possible CEL (depending on year). However, the update should be transparent with your custom tunes, and not mess with them at all. You may end up having to reload them to the device, but they should work correctly and turn off your EGR and CEL/codes if that's how the tunes are written.
