SRL+ is my daily tune, and i have about 30,000 miles on it...but, I almost gave up on it!
When I first loaded it didn't run worth a damn, constant slam shifting, started super hard and wasn't consistent. I loaded the 8K tow tune for a while and decided to give the SRL+ another try....it was night and day difference.
I have discovered that when some people go from stock to the SRL+(and other race tunes) from stock that sometimes it never adapts....mine did this..but from the tow tune to srl+ it was great.
I also have the SRL EXTREME but do not use it..
I drove my SRL+ from Houston TX to Orlando and back in a weekend several times and drive to Colorado and back to Houston frequently...and even did a few trips to Washington dc and back to Houston....all on the SRL+..
I thoroughly trust this tune...however, i am no hot rodder. i drive like a grandpa..
Doing a proper transmission re-learn procedure (found in the 5r110 ATSG manual) really helps with shifting when swapping tunes. For the first few 100 miles after you load a new tune it takes a bit for the tranny to really settle in. The 5r110 has adaptive learning so it is literally ALWAYS learning to adjust to the way you drive, tranny wear, per TCM strategy etc etc.. So for example a Stock truck that has been driven by the same person for "X" amount of time is going to be "used" to shifting a certain way, then when you upload a race style tune with totally different shift points, lock up, line pressure it really throws the transmission through a loop and it takes it a bit to adapt. So the more you can just stick with one tune the better, your transmission will thank you. I thoroughly believe swapping tunes constantly will decrease the life of your transmission, although I am sure some will disagree.
On another note Gearhead has awesome transmission tuning, and I have been very pleased with their customer service & tunes. Miles better than my IDP tunes shifting wise.
