I have a few questions regarding Tuners for my 2006 6.0

I'm looking for a Tuner that also doubles as a permanent monitor. I'm looking at the SCT TSX 8900 (is the livewire 5015p the newer model?) + EGT probe kit.

Is this a reasonable tuner for the 6.0 or is there a better option?
Does the TSX allow for EGR delete and a mild canned tune out of the box?

I know there is alot of hate on canned tunes but I'm not running a high power monster, I just want a bit of low end improvement/ fuel econ. And no CEL with an EGR delete.

Any advice would be appreciated. I also plan on having my Ficm rebuilt and tuned with the "Atlas 40" from ficmrepair, if that's relevant.

I have the Edge CTS2 PRO from PHP, haven't loaded any tunes yet because I haven't had the time but the CTS2 is a fantastic monitor

yeah it does look like a good option, but I'm trying to go with simple canned tunes right off the bat.

Canned tunes don't usually play nice with the 5R110 behind the 6.0

I’m going to be the one I’m afraid to pound voodooridr’s point in just a tad deeper.
You don’t have to spend a lot on custom tunes. Buy 2-3 would be my recommendation and your tuner is going be so much more inline for reaching your goal of improvement. The program isn’t for truck John Doh with _ tires & lift etc etc. It’s going to be your truck, gears, tires, lift, trans shift points, mods, and EXACTLY fine tuned for what your telling the guy you want to see improved.
I’m telling you if you are dropping hard cash down on a juicy tuner that’s $300-$750 what in God’s name is another $100-150 bones to pull it all together.

But maybe I’m a pre-ameba that counts lines on the tape measure. You know 8-7 and..... 1-2-3-4 little lines & a whisker.
Think about it, were honestly trying to help you.

I have a SCT4 tuner along with a PHP FICM tuner. FICM came first and was a nice upgrade in HP and even mpg.

SCT4 came next and of coarse I loaded the tunes in it. My exhaust note was what I first noticed as sounding awful with a rough growl. The shifting of my transmission got way too soon or too hard and I didn’t like all 3 it was loaded with. So I put it back to stock.

Came on here and said my experience and I was as well was told: custom tunes.
I went with 3 PHP tunes a 45 & 65HP Tow 80HP Street

Hands down favorite is the 65HP Tow. I’m on 38/15.50/18 and they wrote that tune to shift at the rpm’s as if it had 32” tires. Just rolls out and drives like a new truck and with the mods I’ve done over the years the truck is fast as hell for a fat girl.

You will be so much happier. Countless people will have a similar story.
Hope the best for you. As far as tuners out there I’m not the one to ask. Since I only have tried PHP but there are guys here that tried 20 different tune writers.

@voodooridr I'm curious about the tranny not playing nice, I can remembering reading here that SCT was preferred for the 6.0 because of the additional trans tuning that it does?

I've been running the canned tow tune in my X4 for a while now and once the trans learns the new shift strategy (100 or so miles) it "feels" perfect. I have one custom tune (Looney from Vivian) and I wasn't a fan of the hard shifts and holding the RPM up so high all the time. Is it more for the Livewire or am I missing something?

Thanks

I've never had any dealings with the SCT tuner so I can't testify to it's tunes
I just know that the 5R110 is a finicky beast when its programming is messed with
The FlashPaq tuner i played with made the trans shift horribly firm and it felt like the trans was going to rip itself apart
