I just received my new x4. Will it be ok to use as is, without any updates?

That's about the only way you'll want to use it assuming you are deleted.

Thank you, I just wanted to be sure and thought that might be worth a stupid question.

Ok, have a used SCT X4 that just arrived at home, probably has an older version so thanks for this update.

One question - if I put a tune like SRL on it, can I use the X4 to "delete" the EGR also. According to Gary @ SD, the tune doesn't include EGR delete. The EGR cooler has been physically deleted.

Its more likely it can still be done with custom tunes BUT which custom tuner wants to be known for it and put the EPA crosshairs on themselves, probably not a good long term business plan. Guessing there may be a few more people trying to learn how to tune their own vehicles, This might start some interesting threads and hurt a few more pockets with the learning curve.

I spoke with a tuner today, he confirmed this is only for the canned tunes from sct. Any custom tuner is still able to tune out a check engine light for the egr. There will be a soft code but no check engine light.

Do all tuners a favor and stop posting things like that in open forums.

There will always be a work around. No different from the when the gov mandated secondaries on 4 barrels couldn’t open 100%. Were just in an age of electronics. If there’s enough $ to be made, it will happen.
