Should I get ficm reflashed?

I have an 06 f250, bulletproof, sct x4 with IDP Ultimate X, 155/30 injectors. My truck gets outran by stock trucks (with canned tunes) all the time. So ive heard that a ficm reflash will give me my lost power. But ive also heard that some people have lost power by doing it. What do you guys suggest?

Outran by what trucks exactly, another 6.0? If so, you have something wrong then. I would recommend a FICM flash. If you're going to run a super hot tune and you get a PHP tune, I wouldn't run anything but the 40 with a hot tune.

Seems as you need more air....that means a turbo would be a better solution to your problem. Even adding a compressor wheel to a stock turbo might help. Dump in all the fuel you want, without air you ain't going anywhere fast.

Or are there other mods you failed to mention??

yeah I was talking about another 6.0. And if I send it to php do they give it a reflash with the tune or will I still have to take it to a dealer. If I do have to take it to a dealer do you know about how much it’d cost me?

If you send it to PHP they will just flash it and then send it back to you. Dont have to take it to a dealer.

Places like FICMrepair offer PHP FICM tuner rentals, pay the full price for the FICM tuner ($400), they send it to you and you flash your FICM, send it back and you get $250 back. So ends up costing $150 and you have no down time on your truck dont have to worry about removing the FICM.

Update: I got the ficm tuner. Made a small difference but not $150 worth. What should I go to next? I’m tired of driving a snail

Sounds like @HeavyAssault hit the nail on the head. You probably need a bigger/different turbo to pump some air to keep up with the increase in fuel from the bigger sticks.

Maybe @[email protected] will chime in.

You didn't "loose power", you are not feeding the fuel the correct amount of air. Find a compressor wheel that you like, not expensive option since you seem to be on a budget. It's not a hard task to swap out, if you are lucky you may be able to do it on the truck.

Then you can see what changes happen which may lead you to a full Stage 2 turbo in the long run. MAYBE after that you would need to have the tuning adjusted but that's another conversation to have later.
