Buy the Anderson Ultimate. At least then you have to set it down on the ball and there is no chance it will slide off the back. Also, no chucking of the 5th wheel when driving. Also less than 40lbs when you need to take it out.

Yes it was summer for me also, thankfully.
Having 'help' is just distracting for me.

I am currently using this hitch and am really impressed with it. Hasn't given me any problems.
But this is my first 5'er and I have never used anything else so I can't compare.

I sunk my dads like 2-day old seadoo bombardier when I was about 5 years old. My uncle came over and I convinced him to take it out and we forgot to put the plugs in. We were able to get it to the dock before it went all the way under and it sat there until my dad got home and was somehow able to use his boat to tow it to the ramp. We still have it and while it hasn't been run for a couple of years I bet it will with a little love.

The EGR does to your engine what smoking does to your lungs.

Remember you can always improve on a design until the EPA gets involved.

Sorry to hear K9Gunner

I also use the Andersen Ultimate for my 5th wheel. I set it on the ball, lock it and then pick the truck bed up some to make sure it's seated.

Wheels: 2>4 (I'd rather be riding my bike in the woods)

Having "help" is what dinged my tailgate. For whatever reason I let the "help" hook the trailer up and did not physically check it. I opened the tail gate to get my chains out and as I was getting them out on the tail gate the tractor hit the ramps and bam the trailer smacked my tailgate, wasn't locked down on the ball.

Not that it's good, but that sounds like it could've gone a lot worse.

Yeah it could have been way worse, I was standing in the bed when it hit. I just had threw some chains on the tail gate. Luckily no one was injured. I'd replace it but it's too good of a reminder to pay attention when hooking up a trailer now.

Looks like they are doing good work on yours so far.

Poor guy camped next us at Table Rock State Park did the same thing a few years ago. I helped him get it re-combobulated and then he started asking me where I got my flatbed. Said this would be a great excuse to get one.

As @djmaguire would say, when life gives you lemons........
