I am going to order a ScanGuageII for now due to it being more affordable than the Edge. Great suggestion. I may have seen this problem coming earlier if I had been monitoring and am sure it will be a good tool to have. Thanks.

Tested FICM Cold

I tested the FICM completely cold, key on engine off, cranking, and running. All were 48+ volts. Any other suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

If the FICM tests good and you constantly get P0270 Injector number 4 is bad.

Guys a bad FICM usually throws multiple injector codes or one or two that bounces to different injectors.

If you have an injector code that stays on one particular injector at all times and the FICM tests good. Its the injector

Thanks!

Thanks to all of you that replied. Looks like I will be learning how to change my first injector. I'm sure it's going to take me a while but I should be able to do it with all the good information and videos here. Thanks again.

Truck is at the shop now.

After changing the injector I am still getting the same code and it still shakes/shudders. Dropped it off at reputable Diesel shop and they are getting the same code as cheap auto parts store but they belive it is going to be the FICM or harness, not the injector. I should know tomorrow.

FWIW, I have several FICM's on my bench now that read 48V at all conditions but are just junk. Really rough cold starts, barely keep it running in some cases.

Truck is fixed now.

Just got the truck back and it's running great again. FICM was bad in other area than the voltage output. Valuable and expensive lessons learned but am glad it's back now. Thanks to all, including AZ's Affordable Diesel Tech that did the work at a fair price. Jason and the other guys there were great.

I know this is an old thread but I just bought a 2003 F350 6.0 with a P0270 CODE. i have read lots of old posts and have learned a lot. This post say's it real simple Bad FICM " Multiple injector codes , same injector code, bad injector " helps me narrow it down. Still lots more to learn..............
