Turbo seal leak ?

Noticed a problem recently over the past few weeks on my 2006 f350 6.0 diesel. Am burning through quite a bit of oil with no leaks, and when standing beside the engine with the hood up you can hear a hissing sound like air is leaking from somewhere , but then I also have oil in the middle of the underside of the hood right above where the turbo sits as well as a high pitched squeal when throttling down a little harder than usual. Any tips would be greatly appreciated !! Donít know if I just need a new turbo or could get away with redoing the seals.

As for the turbo leaking, a flashlight just looking at the fill and drain tubes and oil pressure sender may show where the leak is. Thereís a few places it leaks under there, but ot gets in that valley and is hard to Lacoste the source.

For the squeal, All I can recommend is to remove the air intake side of the filter and spin the turbine. It will be stiff, but after spinning, it keeps going. Youíre also looking for nicks on the wheel. You can pull the turbine when in and out and side to side and there will be next to no play, so little youíd have to really look for it to see it.

Sounds more like one of your turbo boots is leaking - especially with the oil spray and the squeal. Check that boot on the turbo that goes to your passenger charge air pipe, as it gets brittle and cracks from heat soaks.

Will do forsure! Thanks so much for the replies and advice. Definitely would be nice if it was just something like that and not a completely toast turbo
