no injector clatter part time

I have a 2007 250 super duty 6.0 diesel.

The problem I am having is an intermittent condition that I do not get the injector clatter part time. I may be able to start it and run 10 times. Then maybe when I try start it. I get no clatter and no start. There really is no pattern . It seems like i looked on my app and I did have 48V in the app for the ficm output.( forscan lite). Any Ideas??
Thanks
Andy

Normal behavior -- length of the self test varies by temperature and count since the last test -- it can be long or only a few single run(1.5 seconds), which you may not hear when turning the key since there is other noises happening

In my defense, I was unsupervised

For all those wanting a premium silicone sealer Kubota 70000-73764 is the best your gonna find. This is a hybrid gray silicone that uses solvent rather than acid to start the curing reaction, this makes it safe for aluminum and and any surface that involves coolant.

Definitely not normal IMO. Any work done recently? You're not wrong - the no start is definitely related to the no clatter. Keep an eye on your FICM Main V, FICM Logic V, and FICM sync when the problem happens. Wiggle your FICM & main engine harnesses around and see if you can get any of those to change states while turning key on/off and trying to start it.

The OP states that when he gets has no injector clatter he also has a no start condition. That is not normal.

After re-reading, I see that I missed the no start statement in the OP -- thanks for the correction

I stand by my statement on the variable timing tho -- only because my two daily drivers(06 personal and 05 company) have shown that behavior for the time I have been using them -- either that or both are having the same failure for almost two years that I have had them
