EGR codes and testing with AutoEnginuity

I've got P0401, P0404, P0405 on my Excursion in the signature with an intact EGR system and 193k miles. I've been getting P0401 once or twice per year on long highway runs for a while but I would clear it and it would go away. This weekend it began coming back as soon as the relearn cycle was complete. I pulled the EGR valve, which was still pretty clean from previous maintenance, and cleaned it with a brush and a little spray anyway.

There was a large mound of soot buildup in the intake right under the valve, so I carefully broke that up with a pick and shop vacuumed it out. After this I started to get P0404/05. I checked the resistance per this thread and everything is within range. The connector and wiring harness look fine.

AutoEnginuity passes the KOER tests but shows all 0 on the live data feeds for EGR position desired and actual. It also shows no for EGR circuit fault. Is this the best/only way to test the EGR using AE? Should I try actuating it and see if the values change?

Attached is Pinpont Test W from the Ford Powerstroke 6.0L Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnostics Service Manual. The particular tests are 404=W9, 405=W10, 401=W2 in that apparent order.

The resistances on that thread didn't seem to match up to the PC/ED on first glance, but I didn't dig into it.

Here is the link to the whole PC/ED (2004) if it helps: https://www.powerstroke.org/forum/gen...al-2004-a.html

I was just using AE on my 04' and I did notice that I had a " 0 " reading until I raised the rpm ( using the drop box at the bottom of the screen ) . My idle rpm was around 650 and It didn't ( the egr ) activate until I raised it to 1000 - 1200 .
I was getting ready for a test and had just loaded a stock tune from a performance tune w/the egr off .
I also noticed when I activate the egr via AE the sound of the exhaust changes much like manipulating the VGT actuator .
Hope this helps .
