I'm assuming your mbrp doesn't have a heat shield. I use my excursion for trips to my cabin in Pa. I tow 6-8000# trailer most times and egts can hit 1100 to 1200 deg on some of the hills. I don't want excessive heat to affect my icp if indeed that is why my year came with a heat shield.

No heat shield......and Pfft at 1100-1200 egt, I hit 1500-1600 sometimes lol.
I think you'll be ok without it...but it would probably be very easy to attach your stock heat shield to an aftermarket up pipe with hose clamps if you want to keep it.

Alright, so the stock one has some tabs on the pipe....but with a little creative cutting you could still leave a tab to hose clamp to the aftermarket pipe, if need be I can explain how and where to cut.

Your truck may be an early '04, but if your ICP is on the passenger side valve cover, the engine has either been replaced with a later model or a lot of work was done to move it there. I suppose it's possible that you could be in the overlap of the change, but I believe that they stopped using the "early" motors in September of '03.

I'm sure one of the more knowledgeable here will correct me if I'm mistaken. Just going off memory.

I have it since 06 and it had 14,500 miles when I bought it. The build date is 03/04. I doubt the engine was replaced, as the Oasis report didn't show anything.
