T-CASE FLUID TYPE.

So I am doing a tranny fluid and filter change, and both fuel filters. While under the truck dealing with ATF, I thought I would change T-case fluid also. The dealer gave me 2 quarts of MERCON V, but I just watched a video that says to NEVER use MERCON V, as it can destroy the T-CASE.

Who is right?

i used the transfer case fluid xl12 since that's what the Ford dealer list now instead of the V

but you can argue all day as to why ford deemed it necessary

you know that little pump is always pumping fluid to the output shaft even in 2x4

Not sure why one dealer would tell you one fluid and another dealer would say something different, but i've had it happen to me before as well, so I feel for ya. I used the XL-12 in mine a few months ago when I changed it. ~2.5qts and you're full.
