Late Summer Trip Ideas

Hey guys, I am currently studying for the Texas bar exam which is going to taken the 24th-26th of July. Me and the little lady are planning on taking a nice road trip afterwards and need to do it somewhat on the cheap, we dont have access to a TT so we are going to be staying in hotels or B&B's. So far we have tentatively narrowed it down to either heading out to west Texas to the big bend area, or heading east to the white sand beaches of Alabama, and perhaps even over to Georgia. We are planning on maybe a 5-7 day round trip. You guys have any other road trip ideas that would be in the same distance range 500-600 miles one way (we are from Brenham, Tx which is about 60 miles west of houston)? We are pretty open to ideas so feel free to chime in!
