How to increase MPG

I have a '97 F-250 7.3L. The tires are LT 235 85R 16. I still have the original exhaust system. I read on line about the MBRP 4" XP series turbo-back exhaust system S6218409 and they claim it will improve over all performance. I don't know anyone who has this exhaust system to confirm or deny this claim. Can you guys who have the same truck as I do make any recommendations on how to improve mpg. I've been told that I get 18 mpg. Don't know for sure. Since diesel is about 40 cents more than regular gas, I'd like to squeeze as much mpg as I can to fight back against Big Oil Thieves.
Thanks,
Tom

I'd figure out my own fuel economy or MPG. Pretty easy I have a calculator on my phone. As for MPG try some 2558516 tires on you're factory wheels. I was able to pull down 22 mpg a few times when running that tire size.

Exhaust will help, and keep your big foot out of it.

Thanks guys, The 25 585 16 must be a thinner tire not a radial like mine. Would that still give good traction in snow or sand?
What do you mean when you say "keep your big foot out of it" in regards to the exhaust?
