Tire/rim question

Ok so I am getting ready to buy new tires.I have 17x6.5 alcoas wheels. I want to run 265/70/17 tires(for better looks),but the recommended rim size is 17x7,so is it a bad thing to run a slightly smaller(1/2 inch) rim ? I use my truck for pulling 13-14k fifth. Please give me your thoughts. Thanks

You will be fine. I am under 2" on mine and they still have a flat footprint.

On my 99, I run 285/75's on stock Alcoas in the winter. They have a bit of sidewall bulge, but the tread sits flat and they wear evenly.

If you have a dually, make sure there is proper clearance between the sidewalls.
