2004 f250 Harley needs new tires, limits?

Hey guys, I just bought a 2004 F250 harley edition, first diesel truck.. First truck actually. It needs tires, currently it has 285/65/18s on it. And I've been searching all over and can't find very much info about max tire size with these rims. I've found that they have a good back spacing for leaf spring trucks, but really nothing else. At the lock with those tires I have little less than two fingers of space between the leaf and the tire. The truck is at factory ride height as far as I know of. Would I be able to get away with a bigger tire? Maybe a 35/12.5 18. This is my first go around with truck tire sizes so I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I simply couldn't find enough info that pertains to these wheels. Thank you

12.5 wide is too wide for your rim, and you would rub the leafs. You could run a 295 wide tire easily.

The second # in a tire code is the aspect ratio of sidewall to width, so the higher the ratio the taller the tire. So 285/70r18 is a bit taller then 285/65r18.

Toyo makes a 285/75r18 and nitto makes a 295/70r18 (see SIG)
