Parking Brake Malfunction

The other day I parked my truck, (a 2001 F250 7.3l diesel), and as I set the parking brake it went past where it usually stops.
It made a loud noise similar to when it is released, but it is pushed back at a weird angle. The release has no effect, similar to when it's already released but as I said the pedal is pushed all the way back.
It also seems to be stuck against the wall of the floor area.

I was wondering if any of you have ever come across this problem and also where the parking brakes are actually located so I can check to see if they are still engaged or not.
