Something snapped!!! Help!

2000 Excursion with the 7.3 in it. I was braking quickly to avoid hitting someone in front of me. I had almost stopped when something snapped...brake pedal slammed to the floor...aaaaand I hit him. What failed? Wrecker driver mentioned a bracket near the brake pedal on a Ranger that failed and gave the same symptoms. Does anyone have any idea where I should start? I checked under the hood and didn't notice any busted lines and my brake fluid reservoir is still full. Note: The brake pedal is stuck at the floor. I couldn't even pull it back out with my hand.

Thanks

I am just going off my car experience here....but if the powerbrake booster is behind the MC, then the brake pedal will have a rod that helps actuate the system, it sounds like an internal problem related to the booster. If I had my truck...I would look under the hood to see if its similar. This is just a guess btw since no one else has replied.

Thanks for the reply....and I immediately found the problem once I had a chance to look.
One of the two bolts (the one closest to fender) sheared off....torqued the MC to the right...
bent the other bolt and the pushrod between the two. Now just hoping both parts are ok...
and I can find a new pushrod and bolts and be back on the road.
