Caliper grinding on rim
I have an '01 E-350 Super Duty extended van with the 7.3 tubro diesel. The van has 180,000 miles on it, of which I've owned it for the past 12,000 miles. On Friday I heard and felt a disturbing noise from the front passenger wheel. After taking the wheel off I found the cause of the problem, the rim is contacting the brake caliper, but only when I apply the brakes. The brakes are stock, and the rims appear stock. Stamped metal rims with factory 16" wheel covers. The brake pads appear almost new (about a 1/2" of pad left). I am going to pull some of the other wheels to see if they are they same make and design as the one in question. Besides an improper replacement rim is there anything else that would cause this issue?

Never mind, I found the problem- Missing caliper bolt!!!
I'm feeling rather lucky knowing that I drove a this thing with one caliper bolt missing and the other hand tight. If that second bolt came out I would have been steering a 6,000lb runaway van. I guess its time to start checking all of the important bolts.
