Still Undecided
Well, my previous post helped me to clarify my tire needs, but I am still lost.
For my Excursion, I decided to get two sets of tires. Studded for the winter ice and snow, and M/T for the trail and sand the rest of the year. Size needs to be between 305/55-20 and 325/65-20. The caveat is that I do some heavy (12,000lbs) towing, and am concerned about wallowing and sway (which some tires seem to do with the X even when not towing.
Duratracs are studdable and looked good until I read that folks with big rigs complained about too much sway in the sidewalls. Firestone Destinations are also studdable, but not available in 20". Perhaps I could be happy with 18s if I knew they would fit the towing requirements.
Anyone tow big with studded tires out there?
