Ok, I just joined after doing some search for diesel trucks forums and I need some help.
I have a 97 PW DRW that I am having a god awful time with the brake system. In Nov, I replaced the front brakes pads, rotors, hoses and cross over tube. The back had new shoes and drums. All this for my yearly inspection here in Pa. Feb I started having problems with the system not holding any pedal pressure when you came to a stop, the truck would actually start to creep. Took it to my inspector who said it needed rear cylinders and spring kits, both sides; OK. It was fine for a couple of weeks and started doing the same thing. Took it back, he said the MC was leaking; OK replaced it. But then I had a really tight pedal and the brakes always smelled like they were burning up. Well they were. 1st the right side caliper locked up in the front, I replaced it. Taking it back to tech to have him double check system, still no pressure. The left side locked up, he replaced it. Well, he said he has done everything he can with the brake system, the truck stops but does not have any pressure. So, I replaced the vacuum booster and there was no change with it.
I called Ford after talking with a tech who said the only thing they can think of is the proportioning valve; $365 dealer only item.
Brakes and hardware have been replaced front to back, new MC and booster up top. Am I missing something here?
