Regearing
At what point does it become required to regear for tires. I would like to run 35's on my rig and I am willing to accept the inevitable decrease in mileage and the increase in noise with the tread. Is 35 the magic number where its still okay on the gears or should I go to a numerically higher axle ratio? I have a 3L axle code on my door, its -15F here or I would go look for the axle tag but I would rather no freeze my bejeebers off.
Thanks for looking. 2005 CCSB Lariat, 4" MBRP with 5" tip, Volant Intake, 4x130W KC Daylighters on a Smittybuilt Bar |

I have 35"s and did not regear. The odo and speedo will be off though. If you have a buddy with AE he can recalibrate for tires up to 35"

Don't re-gear for 35's. I re geared for 37's with 4.10's and it was really unnecessary. 38's and higher I think unless you do a lot of towing. In the end you give up a little highway driveability for in town driving.
