dished wheels problems?

hey every1, so i just got my first powerstroke, an 06 f350 crew cab short box with factory 20s. my dad as the same truck and has had some problems with the factory 20s cracking and braking. So im looking into some aftermarket wheels possibly some rbp or eagle wheels with some nice deep dishes, but have heard that when you put wheels like that on it does a number on the ball joints and you end up replacing them every 40k or so. Has any1 else had that problem or know if theres any truth to it? thanks
