broken tire belt??
I have a bad shake and awful bounce in the truck around 49 mph and an awful shimmey from 50 mph and up in the steering wheel. I took it to the garage two times and they could not find anything wrong with steering components up front. The wheels they have balanced two times in 5 months which solves the bounce for about a week, then it is back.I bought a dual stabilizer which also has done nothing for the steering wheel shimmey. It has really gotten bad the past few days, but the real kicker is the whole truck is rough as hell going down the road. there are only 37k miles on the truck. Do you think it could be a broken belt in the tire? I even tried rotating the tires, but it still persists.

any input? I took it to a 3rd garage and they told me it was the lower ball joints and trac arm that need to be replaced??

Jack it up and spin the tires, you'll SEE if the belt is broken or not.
Do you feel the vibration in the steering wheel or in your seat, when you rotated the tires, did it change where you felt it at? Did you bend a rim? |
