So does anyone re-gear?
It seems most will run a 35's no questions asked. A few run 37s without ever mentioning re gearing. I know on gas trucks you have to put lower gears in so not to kill the transmission. What's the take around here. BTW what size is stock?

I think you can run 35's without regearing, 37's and over is when you need to regear. I tow a trailer with 35's and have no problem at all with acceleration or high temps.
As far as stock size for a SD, there are a ton of them. It depends on year and trim package your truck comes with. My 06 Lariat came stock with 18's mounted with 33" (approximately) tires other 06's came with 17's. |

My truck came with 16's on 31's and I now have 20's on 37's. After I put them on I drove around stock for a few months and I hated it. I eventually put 4:30's on and have been very happy with the set up...

I just get the feeling over here that going 3-5 over stock with stock gearing and towing 20,000 lb trailer is A Okay. If you did that on a half ton truck you would be buying a new transmission on Monday.
