Odd Fuel Filter

I've got a primary fuel filter on a 2004 F-550 that is like one I've never seen. The whole filter/H2O separator/fuel pump is not like the "normal" ones these trucks come with. The old filter has a Ford part # stamped on it, that Ford says is a good #. The problem is it crosses to the "normal" filter, and it will not even snap into the housing. So either I'm the only one in the U.S. with this filter assembly, or someone has changed it. I call the company, Pacific Gas and Electric, and not only do their records show the filter assembly has never been changed, but the fuel filter they have on record as being used on this truck is the "normal" one. I told him he better have a talk with his techs because that is impossible, IT WON'T FIT!! HELP!!! Not sure how to post a pic.
