Oh yeah, the other thing-Would add-a-leafs help me with the extra weight on the rear? One guy here in town said I could get them and have them installed for 300bucks. I'm guessing the tongue weight will be about 1000-1400 lbs

I've got a 24' Utility trailler that I alternate between work (10K-12K) digging machines and weekend offroading w/ my 7500lbs offroad truck. My stock hitch was only setup for 6k weight carrying, so I got the Class V Titan and that thing has no problem with the weight, Furthermore I feel safer w/ something that isn't going to give me problems.

If your trailer is 14k lbs, your hitch weight should be 10% of that or 1400 lbs and your truck is rated at alot more than that (2400lbs +/-) for your rear axel weight so air bags nor extra springs would be needed unless you just want them. 1400 lbs should not squat your rear end more than about 2 inches.
GET the heavier reciever hitch, shear strength is what they are rated for anong with tounge weight. A 10k lb hitch is only rated to have 1k lbs of hitch weight.
Don't over estimate the hitch cause it it were to fail, your insurance WILL NOT COVER YOUR BOAT when it does "end overs" and tumbles down the interstate because you had a hitch that was underrated and failed because of the weight.
And you also become liable for other peoples lives in that case too.

I knew I was going to have to upgrade eventually...ugh I just wish the owner would have shelled out the extra cash for the gooseneck trailer. The boat dealer and myself tried to convince him, but the guy didnt want to spend any more money

Two more questions:
1. Thinking of the smallest link in the chain here-the pin for the ball mount...does that need to be upgraded or are they all one standard
2. Is the wiring connector on the factory hitch actually attached to the hitch itself? If so, can I somehow still use it? Its nice having both the flat and round plugs

my reciever is a 2.5 in. and it has a standard 2''in. sleeve for when not using the exstension . so a bigger and longer pin is needed. i have the factory plug mounted on the reciever.

I went ahead and bit the bullet-ordered the whole system. Its really not bad considering it cost me 300 shipped for the hitch, ball mount, and ball. But from what youre saying the reciever is 2.5" wide? That's no good, because now I'll have to buy another ball thats 2" (instead of my already ordered 2 5/16) for towing a bay boat. It never ends I guess...and to think that only 4 months ago I bought one of those $200 adjustable hitches

the opening in the reciever for the ball mount is 2.5'' at least on the titan recievers .
