Brake Controller

I was wanting some advice on a brake controller for my SD. I have a tandem axle 18ft. trailer with disc brakes. What should I look for in a controller?

Are they electric or hydro brakes?

Also what year is the truck. If it is 04 and older I would use a Prodigy Brake Control. Hope this link works for you.

I would use a Prodigy Brake Control. They are real hard to beat, you can buy cheaper ones but the Prodigy Brake Control is easy to sat and easy to adj when you change trailers.

I had a Tekonsha (check the spelling on that), one of the electronic ones, that self levels, digital display, etc. Worked great on tandems. I assume it would work on a 99...it also had a "boost" levels, to quickly adjust the gain, along with a gain knob for fine tuning. It ran only like $140 online. I can try to find the link.

05 and up should have the factory brake control, I would hope, but if it don't I would put in the Prodigy Brake Control. Here is a new link that someone just showed me the other day. Ck it out.Brake Controller
Check out the MaXBrake. I got some good reports on it.
