Towing travel trailer and boat

I am planning a trip to lake Powell this June. I have my RV site reserved as well as a boat slip for 7 days. I am thinking of pulling my 30 foot bumper pull travel trailer and pulling my 24' competition ski boat behind that. I think I will have a total length of like 80 feet. Is this too long? Am I insane? what do ya'll think?

First problem would be weight of boat on rear of trailer unloading tongue weight, causing some handling issues, second would be how would you hook the boat, the bumper on the trailer may not be up to the task, third it may not be legal.

To my knowledge there are only certain states that allow two trailers to be pulled at once. I believe one of them is Montana, but I could be wrong...

I've seen it done a few times in pictures. If I can find any I'll post them. I'm not sure of the legality of it since I've not done it but some states allow it. You will have to have some way to stabilize the boat to keep it inline with the trailer otherwise you'll end up with some fishy situations when deccelerating. I'll try to find you some info and pictures... I have them at home but I'm at work currently. I think if it's a 5er and not a TT you are allowed to double tow in most states, definately check before you do so! Another thing to consider would be your insurance, will they cover it!? Also your roadside assistance, will they cover it if you break down!?

As you will notice in the above pics. those trailers are fifth wheel and not bumper pull. In Michigan that is done quite regularly and I've seen it in other states as well however, I do know that here in Michigan you need a special license to pull tandom trailers like that. Just my two cents worth, Hope it helps.

Personally I'd think just take 2 trucks, even a 1500 should be able to pull that boat no problems.

I would be careful and lookup your laws. I searched for Texas laws on google and found 1 site that said you can tow doubles and 1 said you couldn't. Most states that allow that require the main trailer to be a 5th wheel. I would not tow doubles with a tag along. Also if you get in a wreck or cause a wreck and are over your weights or something happens and the RV manufacturer says it was not designed for towing you will be liable for damages and your insurance most likely won't cover it.

I tow a 30 toy hauler and would never think about putting my boat behind it.
