I have a 30 foot TONGUE PULL travel trailer and I pull my 20 foot ski boat behind it, NO PROBLEM. I have pulled it a few hundred miles with no problem at all. I get on the interstate and set the cruise on 70 and it just trucks right on down the road. I work for the Sheriff's office and my Sgt. told me that he thought it was perfectly legal here in Alabama as long as I had lights and safety chains. I pass other Cops all the time and they just break their neck looking at that long rig going down the road then they keep on driving. My rig's total length is almost 80 feet and I don't have any problems. When I get to my campground I simply pull over where I can and un-hook the boat, go set my camper up then go back and get my boat.

I heard that towing doubles is legal as long as you are not over 80ft and I have heard that some states require that you have a CDL with doubles endorsment. One thing to keep in mind if you pull this combo you have got a lot of trailer behind you getting in and out if gas stations and other places may not be very easy. Braking problems come in to mind , the boat trailer would least have to have surge brakes, wiring in trailer brakes could prove to be tricky and getting both trailers to work together correctly.
