I have a question on 5th wheel trailers. When you're 5th wheel trailer is hooked up to the truck, about how much clearance should be from sidewalls to bottom of trailer. i have a '02 powerstroke that I bought in June just so I could get a 5th wheel trailer, which I bought last month, used. I pulled it home and noticed that trailer doesn't set level when hooked up to truck, it's high in the front by about 5 inches. I know there is an adjustment I can make on the hitch in the bed of truck to lower the front end but, then I lower the front and there's only like 4 inches of clearance from the bed walls to the bottom of trailer. It seems that If I get on some srt roads while hauling and there are dips would I have problems with the trailer bouncing onthe top of the sidewalls? Hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

I have about 7 or 8 inches of clearance on mine... If the truck is lifted then you loose bed clearance and as I understand it, it is quite expensive to lift a trailer (but they do lift them)..

I have seen lifted 5th wheels and personally they don't look safe...more top heavy. Is your truck lifted? If so, you may want to consider taking the lift back down.

I got 5 1/2 inches clearance on mine, and sometimes if I get it in a spot where i am skirting a ditch bank or whatever that may tilt the trailer, I really keep an eye on it cause It LOOKS
like it it gets real close.

You got that right Clay.... Mine's almost 13 feet as is and feels top heavy... I'd hate to see it over 13 feet....

Some trailer axels can be flipped upside down for additional clearance. Check with a camper repair facility to see if this is possible on you model.
