Great Tow to Las Vegas.

Went to the NHRA Nationals in Vegas over the weekend .... Pulled all 12,000 lbs of the 5er there and back with the '06 PSD... First long tow I've done with it and I discovered it seemed to be uphill both ways ... Went down in and back out of no less then 3 valleys each way, you know the kind, down hill for 10 or 15 miles then uphill for another 10 or 15 miles.... Anyway, other then a great weekend of drag racing the beast got 13.7 mpg going there (I just let the truck settle in at whatever speed it wanted to go on the uphills)... Only 12.9 coming back but then too I had the cruise control set at 65 ....

If nothing else I learned just what the tow/haul does for you... It does in fact go into overdrive anywhere from about 55 to about 65 depending on load and the torque converter locks up in O/D when the drag is not to bad...

Enjoyed passing a few Cummins and Duramaxs (blowing black smoke) pulling lesser trailers .....

Just an excellent smooth tow with little effort, gotta love that PSD....

Ken....

Heat,
I was curious how you calculated your mpg? I just towed my TT 9300lbs for 200 miles each way and got about 8mpg??? I did this by filling up before and then again on the way, calculating the gallons used divided by mileage. the lie o meter on the dash told me i was doing 12mpg, let me know i want to know if i should be towing differently, thanks

I dont about your MPG meter in your truck I have checked mine and have found that it is accurate. I have only towed once with mine and it showed 11.8 mpg and the math proved it didn't lie to me. My truck is total stock.

I know people always say that by running the cruise you get better milage, but I'm able to get better milage without the cruise.
